Hey friends, and welcome! I’m so excited you’re here. I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time, and I’m finally diving in—creating a blog-style resource guide dedicated to all things goats.
Over the past several years of raising goats, we’ve experienced just about every emotion imaginable: excitement, pride, heartbreak, joy, exhaustion, and deep appreciation for these funny, stubborn, and incredibly lovable animals. Goats have taught us more than we ever expected, and this blog is a place where I hope to share those lessons honestly and openly.
This won’t be a picture-perfect version of goat ownership. Instead, I want this to be a real-life resource—one that shares both the highs and the lows. We’ve made mistakes. We’ve learned things the hard way. And while some of those lessons came with heartache, they also shaped how we care for our animals today. If sharing our experiences can help someone else avoid unnecessary stress or loss, then it’s worth telling the whole story.
My goal is to help others learn, gain confidence, and ultimately fall in love with goats the way we have. Whether you’re considering getting your first goats, preparing for your first kidding season, or you’ve been raising goats for years and enjoy learning from others’ experiences, I hope you’ll find something helpful here.
I plan to publish new posts every few weeks and share them every other Friday. That said, things may start a little slowly as we head into kidding season—a busy and exciting time on our farm. Kidding season is where this journey will begin, because it’s one of the most important (and overwhelming) parts of raising goats.
In upcoming posts, I’ll be sharing our kidding setup, tips and tricks we’ve learned over the years, and what has worked best for us during delivery and those critical first days after birth. I’ll also be talking about how we kid-share, how we handle bottle babies versus dam-raised kids, and what we do to help transition kids smoothly into their new homes.
This blog is meant to be a growing resource—something you can come back to when you have questions, need reassurance, or just want to learn from someone who’s been there. I don’t claim to know everything, but I do believe there’s value in shared experience, especially when it comes to animal care.
Thank you for being here and for following along. I hope you’ll stick around as this space grows, and maybe—just maybe—learn a thing or two along the way.
Here’s to goats, learning curves, and doing the best we can every day. 🐐
