Purchase Policy
Below is our purchase policy, after several issues we have face in the past we feel the need to lay out what buyers can expect from us when purchasing an animal.
Purchase Policy
Goat Sale and Deposit Agreement
Please read this agreement carefully before sending your deposit and agreeing to a goat.
Deposits and Final Payment
A non-refundable deposit of $50 is required to hold a kid until pick up. Kids are all bottle raised and can go to experienced goat folks as earlier as 2 weeks of age. We also offer the option of having the kids raised here on the farm via bottle and leaving around 8-10 weeks when weaned. Adult goats require a non-refundable deposit of $50 if they are not leaving the farm within one week of the buyer expressing intent to purchase. Deposits may be made through PayPal (as friends and family), or Zelle. Final payment is required before goats leave the farm. Our goats are listed for sale on our website once our selection for retained kids are finished. They are also shared on Facebook @ Twisted F Farms.
Pick Up/Transportation of Goats
Pick up for kids is between 2 and 10 weeks depending on how well they are taking the bottle and if they are needing to travel. We do not offer shipping on bottle kids as this cause to much stress on the animal. After 10 weeks and kids are weaned, the seller reserves the right to charge $2 a week for animals that are not picked up, 4 weeks after the kids wean (around 14 weeks old) if there are not arrangements for pickup and/or transportation the animal and deposit are forfeited. If the buyer fails to show up on the first predetermined and agreed upon date, they are allotted one reschedule and if they fail to arrive at the second predetermined and agreed apron date, they forfeit their animal as well as their deposit. Adult goats are subject to the same rescheduling policy as kids, and they are not listed until they are ready to leave. Pick up for adults is preferred within 2-3weeks of the date that the buyer placing a deposit.
Picking up goats from the farm is preferred as it works well for our busy farm life schedule and buyers can see related goats as well as the sire and dam of their new addition. However, transportation is an option. The buyer is responsible for setting up and paying for transportation. We do have a few people we can recommend if needed. Some states/ transportation companies require a CVI, this is the buyer’s responsibility to determine and fund. We need to know this ASAP so we can get everything set up with our vet.
Goat Health
All goats leaving our farm are healthy and happy to the best of our knowledge. If the goat that you had placed a deposit on becomes ill or dies while in our care, the deposit can be refunded, or transferred to another available goat. We are not responsible for the health of goats after they leave the farm.
We are a clean-tested herd annually; results are available upon request, and are posted on the home page of our website. We also only purchase goats from clean tested herds, and each new addition will go through a quarantine period to ensure our herd's health and well-being. All our goats are also GS6 negative, either through parentage or through testing completed with MDGA.
Our kids are bottle raised and trained to the lamb bar. Our kids are all handled daily and very friendly. Kids will be dehorned if they are not natural polled. Kids that are disbudded will receive a tetanus booster when disbudded. We also administer CDT vaccines to all of our kids at 2 and 6 weeks of age, an additional booster of the vaccine is recommended at the 12 week mark and yearly from this point. Our kids are treated with Calf Pro as an Coccida preventative and general health booster. Our kids also eat a medicated feed to help with coccidia.
Adult goats leaving our herd have been provided the highest quality care while at our farm. They have been kept in accordance with our scheduled vaccination program, as well as had routine hoof trimmings. We routinely check fecals on our herd and treat accordingly. We also have yearly vet visits to ensure our herd is health and well maintained.
Registration and Naming
All our goats are registered with MDGA, without we feel that they should be weathered due to a variety of different factors. All goats leave the farm with an MDGA registration application. We work with our buyers to choose the names for all our kids based on themes for each doe, however we reserve the right to name kids as we see fit. We do this so we can ensure that our herd’s name is held to the highest standard and so that we can accurately provide information to other breeders if they have questions.
Documentation
All our animals leave the farm with several documents. We provide the MDGA registration application for kids, for adults they leave with their MDGA registration certificate and for some adults we have extended registrations. We also have health documents that show all the medical treatment, and vaccinations over the time that we have owned the animal. The final piece of documentation is a bill of sale, this serves a receipt for both buyer and breeder/seller. The breeder/seller will take a photo of the signed bill of sale and send the original with the buyer. The bill of sale includes all information of the goat purchased as well as the seller and buyers, name address, and phone number.
Please review this agreement and send back a message stating that you agree, and we can move forward with the purchase of your new goat.
